User ReviewGerri MPapa is a newly released movie by Dan Israely, based on a true story. The story is unique and very well told. The cinematography, was especially good. Quite an impressive cast including Paul Sorvino, Daryl Hannah, Frankie Avalon, Eric Roberts, Mischa Barton, Michael Madsen, David Proval and Ann Margaret. Acting was excellent. The movie brings to light many problems that adopted children face. It also gives us a glimpse into the world of the mentally challenged in a positive way. The music won already several awards, and justly so. In an era of very violent films it is pleasing to see a movie that tells a human, wonderful story and is entertaining at the same time. All in all a very enjoyable movie. A must see! Even though some moments are tense, and might bring tears to your eyes, you still come out with a huge satisfactory smile.
User ReviewJosef AThis is a very enjoyable movie with some great acting especially by Paul Sorvino (Superb). We later found out that it was based on a true story which made it even better. The music and cinematography were excellent. It's a feel-good movie with internal ups and downs but all ends well. Go see.

User ReviewAmnon CDear Danny and Zahava, Last week I had the distinct pleasure of viewing the movie "Papa" which you so skillfully created and directed and I feel compelled to share with you my pleasure, experience and the positive effect that this movie had on me. As a frequent movie goer it is quite rare that I would exit a theater with the "wow" feeling or the profound effect that "Papa" had on me. First, the story itself, which is quite common in our society, was very skillfully told with the effective flashbacks, natural progression, superb and convincing acting and the emotional scenes. This movie had a moving effect on me that, as a father of two adults sons myself, I shed tears especially when Papa, while hugging the young man, said to him: "I am your papa." Ben, the young son, beautifully depicted an atypical rich Beverly Hills boy which, despite his adaptive family wealth, was a decent, sensitive and unspoiled young man. His biological father convincingly depicted a logical and realistic character despite his mental challenge and speech impediment. In addition, the scenery and views were very pleasing to the eye and the background music was beautiful. "Papa" is certainly a Hollywood-class motion picture and is definitely award-worthy. I am sure that I am not alone experiencing this positive impression from this movie which will remain in my memory for a long time. Congratulations for an extremely well done project. Candidly, Amnon C.
User ReviewPrivate UThis movie will pull at your heartstrings! I laughed, I cried and wanted it to go on forever. You get attached to the characters and how their lives intermingle. Great movie!!
User ReviewNorbert WThis movie is a "Must Watch"! The story of a young man searching for his missing past is touching in itself but what makes it special from other "finding birth parent" tales is its parallel tale of the life of people we consider " mentally challenged". This is so very well displayed in the moving portrayal of 'Papa' by David Proval, who so realistically conveys every emotion of the character. The other residents and support staff of the home create a vivid 3-D image of what goes on. Our young protagonist asks a very important question, " Can someone mentally challenged still be smart", and the answer that comes through is a definite yes.( Also, the two love birds of the movie are charmers!) My " Kippah" off to the producers , directors, cast & staff for a wonderful and beautiful tale. I hope that we will see a middle-PG-13 version soon, so that middle and high schoolers can understand what love and care mean.

User ReviewAl LWe all loved this beautiful and delicious film. Heartwarming story with a great cast! We, our friends and family, went to see this film as a group and we all loved it. We cried, we laughed, and we cried again. It was also wonderful seeing this ensemble of very familiar award winning actors performing in roles that you have never seen them perform in before. It was worth it just to see this great cast act so well together on the big screen. Written, directed and produced by Danny Israely, a prolific multi-talented screenwriter, poet, singer, musician, playwrite and songwriter, this film is a grandslam for Danny, the entire cast and the crew that worked on it. Run, don't walk, and take your family and friends to see this film on the big screen. You won't be disappointed!!
