User ReviewAshley Hanother typical esther Williams vehicle from MGM.
User ReviewKelly PWow. Funny in all the wrong ways. Somewhat of a poor man's South Pacific. Everything that South Pacific got right, this movie got terribly wrong. I am slowly working my way through all of Esther Williams movies and I love Howard Keel (Annie Get Your Gun & Seven Brides for Seven Brothers), but this movie was not their best foray into cinema. For one several times through out the movie both of them look like they fell into a vat of bronzer, then at other moments in the film they appear to be as white as the moon. The songs are enjoyable, but forgettable.
User ReviewMichael THoward Keel does his best under the weight of mediocre to crummy songs and a truly dumb and boring story. Esther Williams swims her little heart out (with Keel in one scene). I found it interesting to see a very young Rita Moreno (she's in this, she looks like she was only 16 or 18 when she made this -- a young'en at the time). I saw it because Mr Keel had just passed away and since I had always adored him I wanted to see all the movies I hadn't seen him in before. This was one of them. It was nice to see him, but it really wasn't a great movie. Unless you love Howard Keel or Esther Williams, or are on a mission to see every movie/musical on the face of the earth without regard to quality, DON'T SEE THIS BORE OF A MOVIE!!!
