Full Plot Details

The boys' Army buddy, Eddie Smith, is killed in the trenches in France, leaving his baby girl an orphan. Back home after Armistice, they try to find Eddie's father and turn the child over to him. Unfortunately, they keep coming up with the wrong Smiths, and in the process disrupt a wedding by proclaiming the baby to be the groom's child. To evade the Welfare Association, they try to skip town, raising money for their escape by hocking their lunch wagon. But they accidentally knock the bank president unconscious and wind up being hunted down for bank robbery.

User Review - 10/10 by The Critic (With a slightly darker edge than most of Laurel and Hardy's other works, 'Pack Up Your Troubles' is a wonderful mix of comedy and drama. An assortment of gags that hit the mark and the casting of the incredibly adorable Jacquie Lyn as the plot's catalyst make this is a must-see.
User Review - 8/10 by Simon TIt may not be the funniest Laurel & Hardy but this early feature is still delightful and at times even quite moving. The boys spend the bulk of the movie trying vainly to locate a toddler's grandfather (helpfully called Smith). One of the best sequences is semi-improvised - Stan fighting sleep as their ward tells him the story of Goldilocks. The cast is studded with cameos by L&H regulars like Billy Gilbert, James Finlayson and Charles Middleton. Even moderate Laurel & Hardy is hugely entertaining.
