CinePassionFernando F. CroceA dapper case for matrimonial elasticity, argued in sleighs and insinuations
Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzIt amiably follows along the tracks of the usual Lubitsch frothy boudoir operetta.
Goatdog's MoviesMichael W. Phillips, Jr.Enjoyable at the beginning and at the end, but the middle portion had my mind wandering.
User ReviewDavid FI seriously don't know I could have lived and seen so many comedies without seeing this one, or any Ernst Lubitsch movies for that matter. A rather modern laugh-a-minute farce from the 30's, "One Hour With You" plays along so well and is so well-acted it easily ranks with some of the best comedies of recent decades.

User ReviewPrivate UChevalier is pretty funny, as well as charming and debonair. pleasantly mischievious.
User ReviewLevon PEffortlessly crafted, this film really highlights what became referred to as "The Lubitsch Touch" - a nudge nudge, wink wink approach to sex in early films. Maurice Chevalier is masterful in making what would be a very unsympathetic adulterer a truly compelling and likeable character. This is a genuinely funny film, from start to finish, and a very interesting look at the early experiments in the musical genre of film. What is also interesting is Lubitsch's use of breaking the fourth wall in order to dance around the unspeakable topic of sex. Amazingly, only a few years after the release of this film, it was banned under the Hayes Code until the 1960s.
User ReviewCordelia SOne of the great many hilarious musical comedies starring Maurice Chevallier--this one, like many others, directed by the inimitable Lubitsch. Brilliant concept, the quintessential adorable French man, and a great plot culminating in an unforgettable ballroom scene where everybody's pretty much coming on to each other, with humorously varying results. Highly recommended!!
User ReviewDavid LOne Hour with You is less interesting in its shaky second act and the musical numbers are too short, but it's a very frank, sexually provocative for its time romantic comedy with another strong showcase of Maurice Chevalier/Jeanette MacDonald charming duo. Its honesty and particularly playful dialogue and humor are the standouts.
