| User ReviewAndy PThis classic Merrie Melodies short can be seen for what it is on the surface: a very amusing animation about a talented top hat sporting frog who sings rag-time era hits and dances with a cane or, more interestingly, we could look at the supernatural singing amphibian as a sort of lesson on greed. The two human characters try to exploit the creature's talent for profits which leads only to misfortune and frustration. Asides from the moral profundities, One Froggy Evening boasts a memorable, toe tapping soundtrack and indelible animation. |
| User ReviewPaul D''Hello, my baby / hello, my honey / hello, my ragtime gal / Send me a kiss by wire / baby, my hearts on fire / if you refuse me / honey, you'll lose me / then you'll be left alone / Oh baby, telephone and tell me I'm your own.'' Wikipedia: Steven Spielberg, in the PBS Chuck Jones biography Extremes & Inbetweens: A Life In Animation, called One Froggy Evening "the Citizen Kane of animated film." It truly is absolutely brilliant. Really gotta love that frog. One of my top 10 animated shorts of all time. |
