User ReviewAll HA refreshing note - Hollywood isn't just producing the same old rehashed junk. Sampson created winner with this film, creating a fresh story on the age old concept of revenge with an amazing all star cast! Being the last film of David Carradine's career, it's a shining example of what happens when real stars get together on a film set. Carradine offers his best mystical and dark side along with Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead and horror legend Udo Kier as they haunt the fright into you wondering who is going to end up dead next. No plot give-aways here, but you will enjoy seeing an original story told without having to rely on old comic book stories to keep the pace. It's shot on amazing locations, real castles, pretty girls, and what I enjoyed most - quality dialog that keeps you watching and listening, and many times bursting out with a chuckle and a laugh by the characters responses. Well worth the view, and well worth the wait! I knew this movie was coming for a while, I'm happy to have got a copy, and I think fans of cult type films will feel the same way. Kill Bill, Ten Little Indians, Highlander ... add Night of the Templar to your list of must haves.
User ReviewAngelica SNight of the Templar or Knight Templar depending on which version you get is NOT your typical run of the mill medieval flick and you will be sorely disappointed if that is all you're expecting. The truth is that you should expect so much more from this directional debut by the immensely talented Paul Sampson. I can only full heartedly recommend it. A cult film in the making.
User ReviewClete RI loved this movie! This was a well written, well thought out, and perfectly directed, gem of a movie and I thought the acting was consistently superb. I highly recommend this film to anyone. This is living proof that all you need is a good script and good actors.
User ReviewGeorge MSaw this movie and was very surprised.Started with battle scenes witch were done very well and got me interested on the rest of the movie. The movie switches to 700 years later into a weekend in a castle. The movie has action, suspense, murders, mystery and comedy.A great movie watching experience.Paul Sampson's directorial debut hits it just right. Also wanted to see David Carradine's last movie what a great actor.Acting was very good by all actors. Especially Norman Reedus , Udo Kier and Paul Sampson.
User ReviewMax JThis should be on everyone's list of cult classics. The film is unique and well done. Love the humor and the gore. Carradine, Reedus, Drego incredible cast. Cudos to Sampson for for sticking to basics and keeping it real. Almost expected Vincent Price to pop out somewhere. I like the humor in this film. Its twisted. Personally, my kind of stuff. Sampson has put together the right balance of humor, gore, and mystery. The woman are all hot and worth watching if that's all you are interested in. Definitely some enjoyable scenes with the woman. For 10 bucks at Walmart, its worth grabbing a copy. You will probably watch it more than once. It's a Saturday night cult horror classic like they used to make them.
User ReviewJosh BVengeance like you havent seen it before. And wont again for along time, if ever. Oh the vengeance. Who would of thought it would be so sweet and horrific to watch. With the kind of dark humor that makes this film one of a kind. Plus many MANY other moments and scenes. That you have to see to belief. It was an instant hit in our house. Very entertaining and great movie
User ReviewBob LPut this movie on your must see list now!!! This one has it all. I didn't want the movie to end and I just couldn't get enough of it. I will make sure all my friends know about this one. Absolutely worth it!!!
User ReviewMichelle GThis is a great film! I am a David Carradine fan so this is what attracted me to it in the first place but what a terrific piece of cinema!!! It containes so many elements of many genres that it definitely has a very broad appeal to many audiences. It creatively blended a murder mystery, suspense thriller, touching romance, well choreographed fight scenes set in medieval times, weirdness, comedy, sexiness... The film is well acted and directed by Paul Sampson. It is an amazing feat for a first time director to act, produce and make Mr. Sampson's words come alive as he did in this film. It's one of those rare gems that compel you to watch it again and again as he adds so much nuance that you catch more and more as you watch it again. It would not surprise me if this becomes a cult classic as David Carradine, Billy Drago, Paul Sampson, Max Perlich and Udo Kier really delivered command performances. The film has beautiful scenery and keeps you on the edge of your seat... It also has some unique horror gore elements and many comedic moments --a tall order that delivered! It has a very creative, funny and endearing twist at the end. I highly recommend this film as it is very unique, riveting, entertaining and suspensful. Bravo!!!
User ReviewAn Actual RThis is definitely not your run of the mill indie film. I thought I was going into a medieval kingdom of heaven regurgitation but it was very far from that. It feels like the writer took medieval times, revenge, old English cult "Hammer Films" , a very European approach to film making, sex appeal, revenge, a scoop of Tarantino, Lynch, and tossed in a truck load of originality and fun and somehow pulled off a film that I've watched three times now and learn something different with each view. and feel like I'm watching a different movie. I would love to be able to classify it's genre but I can't. In the end it stands on it's own eight feet, because it has that many. Hopefully it gets the exposure it deserves.
User ReviewEthan HVery entertaining movie. Loved the acting and directing. Thought it was spot on. Kept me on the edge of my seat as I didn't know what to expect next. I will watch it a 2nd time so you go enjoy it a first time
