User ReviewJuha SLoved it. Reminded me of the different stuff in the old Hellraiser comics. Has very cool ideas and some jacked up imagery.
User ReviewApex GI has never heard of it when I stumbled across it and I loved it, not for the light-hearted though
User ReviewKitty SNecromentia was a brilliant movie. The storyline was phenomenal. The effects were breathtakingly realistic, and the acting and actors were just fantastic. The plot is very complicated, but once you understand it, it makes the movie even better. Pearry Teo is a genius. I was inspired by it in so many ways; it's a work of art on every level. Layton Matthews (who played Morbius) was amazing. He's been an incredible actor in all the roles he's done, but his acting in Necromentia was definately one of his greatest. He played his character perfectly and flawlessly; he was the perfect actor for the part, and he really inspired me with his fantastic acting. I highly recommend Necromentia to any horror fan, just be careful if you're squeamish, because there are a lot of gory parts. As I said, the movie is quite complex, so if you don't understand it, look it up and then try rewatching it again after. That's what I did, and I appreciated it so much more. This is one of my favorite-and best-movies I've ever seen, and it just proves you don't need to have a huge budget to make an outsdanding creation.
User ReviewKatherine OI almost turned it off in the first 20 minutes or so? It was annoying how amateurish it looked to begin with, but then somehow it seemed to turn into a completely different film. I put this down to the bad acting from ?Hayden? and the continuity errors in the shaving scene (I always notice things like this, and they bug the hell out of me) I really enjoyed the gore. The visual effects were done excellently! The story itself was a great one? but I don?t think it was as well executed as it should have been. I?m not quite sure what it was, but it was definitely something that left me feeling a bit like? ?oh??which is odd, because I loved the concept and everything. The ?Mr Skinny? scenes were fantastic! I just wanted to see more and more of him. Overall I?d say it was worth the watch, and a good one for all things disgusting :D
User ReviewMoriah FIn terms of atmosphere and style this one has it. Disturbing and dark. While some of the philosophical elements may seem a bit pretentious, this one is a grim delight for horror fans based in three different plot lines that converge in an interesting and satisfying way.
User ReviewAl MFeaturing a dark, twisted aesthetic reminiscent of Guillermo del Toro's films or Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics, Necromentia doesn't quite reach the heights to which strives, but its ambition goes a long way. The film jumps back and forth between the fatally intertwining stories of two characters literally bent on a path to Hell. Darkly beautiful, genuinely twisted, and thoroughly horrific, Necromentia will delights fans of horror and transgressive cinema that want some style with their gore and trauma. Necromentia is an effort from a director that I hope to see more of in the future.
User ReviewZeke PNow on the back of the DVD it says it's inspired by Clive Barkers work.. if 'inspired' means pretty much ripped off then I will agree. It reminds me of Hellraiser in so, so many ways but despite that it's still a good movie. The plot keeps going from one focus to another every other scene almost so it's a little hard to keep up with unless your paying attention... It's based on the lives of three main people. A man called Travis and his handicapped brother, a fat man called Hagen and his dead wife and a mute. But you don't see much about the mute fello till the end. The gore is very well done, the plot is interesting enough, not very scary.. in fact not scary at all but it's good. Pics and more on my blog
User ReviewJacob PThis may be, the most disturbing, darkest, satanic, evil, crazy, sadistic, horror movie I have ever seen. The story...it's just so dark! This movie probably has the most disturbing characters I've seen in a long time. A very good movie.
User ReviewEric LWow. Necromentia was actually an extremely pleasent surprise. I almost passed this one up when I saw it at my local video store for rent. I am very glad I didn't. This is obviously a movie of fantasy, but the way it was put together and the excellent creature/gore effects are so top notch, you feel as if this was a real life possibility. Let me take a moment to talk about the creatures... they are amazing. They are all expertly designed, equal parts horrifying and amazing. Most of the creatures in this film were definitely inspired by the likes of Clive Barker, H.P. Lovecraft, and Wes Craven. And in this film, those influences really show, and these filmakers took some of the best inspirations from these other classic horror mavens. Necromentia wasn't the best movie I have ever seen, but for what the movie was trying to do (scare the hell out of you and make you remember this film for weeks to come after seeing it) it definitely pulls it off very well with a surprisingly good cast and script. A must see for anyone who calls themselves a horror movie fan.
