Movie Reviews

Chicago Sun-Times - 8/10 by Roger EbertThis is a smart, observant movie about two very particular people, and its casting is pitch-perfect.
Knight at the Movies - 8/10 by Richard KnightA lovely surprise -- it's endearing rather than sticky-sweet; truly charming rather than forced; and is enriched by its two leading performances as well as several memorable supporting turns.
New York Times - 8/10 by Jeannette CatsoulisBlessed with natural performances and brisk pacing, this unusual little movie would like us to know just one thing: Passion is fine, but a pal is priceless.
Chicago Reader - 8/10 by Ben SachsDirector-cowriter Nathan Adloff displays real sensitivity toward the central characters, yet he hasn't crafted a story in which his observations might carry any weight.
Slant Magazine - 8/10 by Calum MarshNathan Adloff's Nate & Margaret is an endearing, hopeful, and quietly radical film.
Village Voice - 6/10 by Chris PackhamNarrative conflicts are introduced and swatted away in favor of an amiable sentimentality, two nice people being nice to each other.
User Review - 10/10 by Bobby L. PI thought this movie was really good! Definitely weird but that kind of movie I especially LOVE!
User Review - 10/10 by Patrick ZThis film explores the feelings of love and hate, romance and friendship, and joy and despondency with lovable and identifiable characters. I laughed, cried, and felt embarrassed with them in ways rarely seen for me.
User Review - 10/10 by John IQuirky and charming. I love coming across a film that I know nothing about, totally by chance, and being so pleased by it.
User Review - 8/10 by Juan BAny resemblance between Nate & Margaret and Harold & Maude is purely intentional. In this case, being a modern take, the sexual edge has been dulled by Nate's homosexuality and Margaret's dysfunction. Both actors are quirky and likable. Problem is the screenplay hasn't got much more than stock conflict for them to sink their teeth into. Direction isn't the best either and some of Nate & Margaret seems awkward and ill-motivated. But for 78 minutes this is a duo that is interesting company.
