User ReviewChandra RReally good movie. I watched it one Lifetime with my sister. We both loved it. Its a good thing to remind you about all the dangers out there. So you watch yourself and make sure you don't get hurt.
User ReviewDeb SThis is a sad and tragic true story of the disappearance of a pretty 18 year-old Alabama high-school graduate Natalee Holloway who disappeared on May 30, 2005 during a high school graduation trip to Aruba. Natalee was scheduled to fly home later on May 30, but failed to appear for her flight. She was last seen by her classmates outside nightclub in a car with locals Joran van der Sloot and brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe. When questioned, the three men acknowledged that they were with Natalee on the night she disappeared and had given her a lift back to the hotel but denied any wrong doing. Their changing stories and possible cover ups by the Aruban police leaves this case unsolved. As of today Natalee is still considered a missing person. This movie reinforces the risks young girls face when traveling to a foreign country but I would assume there is no need to reinforce running wild in a foreign place and getting drunk because sadly this wouldn't be the first girl to get drunk and have something bad happen to her by the hands of an unscrupulous guy, murdered, raped, sold into the sex trade or white slavery. . In a relentless effort to discover the truth behind her daughter's disappearance, Beth Holloway captured the nation's attention by working tirelessly to solve the mystery that shattered her family's life. While her concerned parents have given up all hope in finding their daughter alive, they just want closure so that they can go on with their lives and finally put their daughter to her eternal rest! This is a movie of every parents' nightmare and well worth looking at. (Why can't life be like the movies"Taken" comes to mind, where good always conquer over evil or maybe we need more Liam Neesom as Fathers.) I thought this movie was a good representation of a tragedy even though Aruba does come off looking badly but that is just my opinion....and I do realise there are similar such incidents all over the world that does not receive the same acclaim as this one did but then such is life..it is not always very fair!!!
User ReviewBuggy BTrue story of Alabama Teenager Natalie Halloway who went missing in Aruba in 2005 and the desperate search by her mother (Tracy Pollen) for the truth behind her disappearance. Another one of those ripped from the headlines, made for TV dramatizations, that I tend to watch when I don't feel like thinking too hard. This one was just okay. I found Tracy Pollen to be very annoying and then I realized that was how she was supposed to be. Interesting story that is made even more so because at the end you are left with more questions than answers. The mystery remains unsolved even with a video confession. I was annoyed by the constant "if this was America" preaching. Things are done differently in other countries. 08.13
User ReviewYahnni BI thought the movie about Natalee Holloway's disappearance was very well constructed. I believe that her story should be told in order to raise awareness for teens traveling abroad reminding them to never separate from their friends or family or leave their drink unattended. This movie serves as a very good lesson for teenage girls. The disappearance of Natalee was very accurately portrayed. I read several news articles regarding her disappearance and I think the movie adheres to the facts found in newspapers and magazines.
User ReviewJamie LInteresting. That's how far this movie goes.
User ReviewScot C"The truth always comes out eventually" I watched this film for three reasons, it was filmed in South Africa, i know a few of the actors in the film and i was curious about this story. The film is a lot better than what i thought it would be, and the reason i intially thought it would be average is because most tv movies i've seen are not great. It's well written and well acted, particularly Tracy Pollan, i really sympathised with her character. What makes this really look like a film made for tv is the cinematography and lighting. Almost every scene looks like it has studio lights. I think Mikael Salomon the director who was the cine on film such as Backdraft and Far And Away, should have had a hand in that department on this film as well. The two main Spanish characters, the actors have not lost there South African accent. And this is important this kind of detail because this film is predominantly aimed at the USA audience, and fair amount of them have an ear for the Spanish accent. Amy Gumenick was well cast, and a good performance to go along with it. This movie is far from brilliant, but the story is easy to follow and good enough to keep the audience's attention throughout.

User ReviewFabio VI'm familiar with the story of Natalee Halloway and I don't think this movie really did it justice. No disrespect to her family or anything, I know they've been through a lot. I'm sorry but... this just isn't good, not even for an LMN movie. It's almost like the screen-writers didn't even try.... oh what am I saying? They DIDN'T try... This is a half-assed effort and I have HAD IT with "A (digustingly inaccurate) Lifetime Original Movie: The *insert name here* Story". The acting was pathetic, Tracy Pollan came off as a hammy over-dramatic cheap knockoff of Emily Proctor, but maybe we can chalk that up to bad directing... hmmm, or maybe not. Anyway the pacing was a bit uneven and the dialogue was stiff and almost laughable at times. To be honest I was so bored I ended up changing the channel about halfway through, but I did tune back in just in time to catch the very end... which was heavy handed as hell. Here's a tip, if they want to get their message across, they shouldn't drive their target audience away with cliches. Let's face it people... this is Lifetime we're talking about. We've all seen this movie a million times before, and it's rarely ever done well. They crank these things out practically every friggin week. The good thing about that is that it gives plenty down-on-their-luck actors a chance to find work... hey at least they're getting paid right? It really is a shame. These movies should be compelling but instead most of them are just so bad they're forgettable. So remember kids, don't talk to strangers... or you too could end up having your life turned into a mediocre TV movie.
