Movie Reviews

Screen International - 8/10 by Mike GoodridgeAlthough the central story leans towards the melodramatic, Lou's confident blend of realism and poetry keeps it on track.
The Film Stage - 8/10 by Giovanni Marchini CamiaAn extraordinarily rich, initially exasperating, yet eventually marvelous postmodern epic.
The Film Stage - 7/10 by Jared MobarakLou's latest Mystery deservedly won three Asian Film awards last year including Best Film.
The Playlist - 7/10 by Nikola GrozdanovicAs aesthetically dazzling as this picture is, with hypnotic compositions carved through meticulous mise-en-scene, there are certain conventional lines which — when crossed — must warrant good reason. In this case, the activity on the screen must be immersive and interesting enough to balance out the physical endurance asked of the viewer by the creator.
The Hollywood Reporter - 6/10 by Deborah YoungSpread over hours of poetic ramblings, the message loses most of its urgency.
Variety - 5/10 by Guy LodgeA major disappointment from a major filmmaker, Diaz’s latest super-sized tapestry of historical fact, folklore and cine-poetry is typically ambitious in its expressionism — but sees the helmer venturing into the kind of declamatory, didactic rhetoric that his recent stunners “Norte, the End of History” and “From What Is Before” so elegantly avoided.
User Review - 8/10 by Nicki MDidn't really know what to expect with this one. At first it seemed like the story was about a girl who is hit by a car and killed by an irresponsible driver, then it switches to being a friendship film about two mums with young children, then it turns really dark and disturbing as you very slowly realise the connection between the women and the young girl who died. Really well done and not easy to watch in places.
