Archie Williams is a 17-year old media geek who has suddenly found himself the most talked-about kid in school. He has announced that he's going to kill himself- on camera- for a class project. His classmates, parents, Sierra- the most beautiful girl in school, and a "Shady Bunch" of shrinks, doctors, pill-pushers, and counselors descend on Archie. Some are hoping to save him, some want to imitate him, others try to push him over the brink. Archie films every moment of his high school experience, hiding nothing from his audience: realities of life, death, violence, sex, drugs, and the intense media overload and hypocrisy that bombard all teenagers.
Leave your thoughts about My Suicide.
CinematicalEric D. SniderA compelling and cathartic film, a work of thoughtfulness and creativity that's well worth checking out.
ComingSoon.netDave GonzalesAfter the two leads begin to do the dance of death around their real problems, the film slows down and takes the time to attack the issues at hand from multiple angles.
New York TimesRachel SaltzParts neatly capture teenage angst and parts have a sharp documentary flavor.
Film ThreatJessica BaxterThe premise sounds promising to be sure. But the execution (no pun intended) is excruciating. My issues with this film were so numerous that it's difficult to know where to begin.
Los Angeles TimesRobert AbeleIntroduces one more gratingly solipsistic, absurdly precocious movie adolescent to test our boundaries for empathy.
User ReviewJuan BThis movie was great I loved from begging to end
User ReviewSarah Qthis was truly an incredible movie that everyone should see at some point in their life. There are so many "Anti-suicide" films out there that dont really ever get the point across, they are all a bunch of cliches (unfortunately).... this movie, however, sends off such a powerful message that it really makes you think
User ReviewFred FThere are no words that will do this film justice! that being said, here I go. Archie's Final Project is THE MOST INCREDIBLY MOVING AND POWERFUL MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN. For teens who feel like misfits, or just out of sync with society, this movie will speak to you on a personal level. For any parent who wants insight into the real world of their child, this film is a must see. FOR ANYONE WHO ENJOYS GREAT MOVIES, YOUR SEARCH ENDS HERE! The story is, and will always be relevant and gripping. The acting has you forgetting it's a movie, as you are pulled into Archie's life. You will forget you are watching a movie, and feel as if you are watching a friend you've known your whole life. The pesudo-documentry style of the film is very intimate. A fantastic mix of "home-made" first-person footage and traditional third person movie filming is truly well done. Coupled with the "you-tube/home-made" special effects, Archie's Final Project CAN RIGHTLY BE CONSIDERED A WORK OF ART. The story will attack the full range of your emotions. It is considered a dark comedy and will have you laughing quite frequently. However, there are moments in the film when you will discover that yes, even you can cry. It is beyond entertaining and I guarantee you won't want it to end. It personally MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME (Godfather eat your heart out). Archie is an unforgettable character that transcends the film and has you falling in love with him from the very beginning of the film. You will find yourself relating to him at many points in the film on a very personal level and who knows, you may just be an Archie yourself Finally, I must say that at points the subject matter may not be appropriate for younger audiences, but I also feel it is important that every teen sees this movie. So, as I already said, words don't do this film justice. GO SEE IT!
User ReviewBrian SI saw this film two years ago at the Giffoni Film Festival in Italy where it not only got a standing ovation but went on to sweep the awards. It blew everyone in that theater away. And it has been with baited breath that I have waited for this films theatrical release. It's a moving, powerful film. It's beautiful in it's message and in it's artistry.
User ReviewChristian CBest film of the year in this genre. Very poignant and relevant story, A must see for you and your teens. Gabriel Sunday is under the radar but after this his star will shine very brightly. Please see this film, you will not regret it. Also, the way it is filmed and the characters portrayed is done in a fun and imaginative way. Just go see.
