Movie Reviews

Austin Chronicle - 8/10 by Richard WhittakerCuartas tenderly catches the scenario at the end of the road, leaving only the question of who, if any, will be able to walk away. Not that their existence is tenable for anyone that crosses their paths, and Cuartas' script gives plenty of space for the core trio to explore their tragic roles in this disaster.
RogerEbert.com - 8/10 by Peter SobczynskiCuartas' film provides a generally interesting spin on both the vampire mythos and more typical dysfunctional family dynamics. And while I can't promise it will provide you with a good time at the movies, at least in the conventional sense, I can tell you it's one that's likely to stick with you for a while.
The Film Stage - 8/10 by John FinkAlthough masterfully directed and performed, the film somehow feels a bit unresolved, especially since the family lives in a populated suburb rather than a rural area which would make their desperate actions far easier to conceal.
Variety - 7/10 by Dennis HarveyIf terror is not particularly sought after, there is still sufficient tension, and downplaying the story’s fantastical aspect in favor of psychological conflicts lends the whole a persuasive pathos.
The New York Times - 7/10 by Lena WilsonThis may be dark fodder for a family project, but the result is a visually striking meditation on obligation and complicity.
Slant Magazine - 6/10 by William RepassJonathan Cuartas’s film vividly diagnose a sickness of insularity endemic to middle-class America.
