Ellen Arden arrives 7 years after being given up for dead in a shipwreck, to find her husband Nick just remarried to Bianca. The overjoyed Nick awkwardly tries to break the news gently to Bianca. | User ReviewJakki JDunne and Grant were teamed many a time, but this film seems a bit broader, and filled with moments where you have to suspend your disbelief, including Dunne's tragic circumstances, and Grant's state of marital contentedness. It's all lovey dovey and amazingly sweet, but it specifically works because the two compliment each other with their zany antics and wanton disregard for lack of wit and candor. |

The is one of the greatest romantic comedies of all time, everything comes together perfectly - direction, screenplay, score, cinematography and the cast, and what a terrific cast. Irene Dunne and Cary grant are excellent, the supporting cast is outstanding, especially Gail Patrick, Granville Bates and Donald MacBride. Randolph Scott is well cast. Nominated for three Oscars, original screenplay, original music score and for art direction. There are so many memorable scenes and it is often laugh out loud funny. A great and unforgettable classic. |
