In the mining town of Harmony, a drilling accident is caused by the son of the owner, Tom Hanniger. The mine collapses, burying six miners alive. The rescue team finds only Harry Warden alive, but in coma, and the other miners murdered by his pickax, and they conclude that Harry killed them to save oxygen for himself. On Valentine's Day, Harry awakes from his coma in the local hospital, and he kills twenty-two people, including a group of teenagers that are partying in the mine. Harry is killed by the deputy, but the only survivors are Tom Hanniger, his girlfriend Sarah, their friend Axel Palmer and his girlfriend Irene. Ten years later, Tom returns to Harmony after the death of his father. Tom has decided to sell the Hanniger Mine, and finds that Sarah has married Axel, who is now the local sheriff, and they have a son named Noah. On Valentine's Day, Harry Warden also returns, seeking revenge against those that had escaped his pickax in the past, and Tom is accused by Axel and other locals, who in turn makes accusations against Axel.

EricDSnider.comEric D. SniderIt manages a few surprises -- and in a genre as worn-out as this one, a few surprises are all it takes.
BrianOrndorf.comBrian OrndorfThis 2009 update isn't interested in manufacturing a severe facelift, instead holding tight to the dog-eared slasher playbook, adding the gimmick of 3-D to provide audiences with a front row seat to terror, and, for the most part, atrocious acting.
JoBlo's Movie EmporiumJimmyOIt is one of the best times I've had at a horror movie in years.
Flick FilosopherMaryAnn Johanson[C]heat[s] at the end. In such a huge way that it's the most stunningly bad thing about the movie. And it's not like there's not a lot of competition for the bad here.
MovieCrypt.comKevin A. RansonSure, the 3-D thing is a gimmick, right along with the gratuitous violence and nudity, but the real surprise is that it's not a bad horror film, either.
Projection BoothRob HumanickThough it stands as one of the better horror remakes to come along in recent memory, 2009's My Bloody Valentine still only just passes for competent watchability.
What CultureMike EdwardsI'm absolutely convinced that the pickaxe is the ideal weapon for a 3-D horror.
Q Network Film DeskJames Kendrickundeniably hokey, but also giddily effective, with the 3-D turning what might otherwise be a routine slash-and-hack job into a ridiculously gory theme park ride
TheShiznit.co.ukAli GrayMy Bloody Valentine 3D is as cheap, tacky and throwaway as the plastic glasses that come with it, but for a good old-fashioned Friday night at the movies, it's damn near unbeatable.
Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN)John BeifussIn a packed auditorium in 3D, the film is a true thrill ride -- a communal experience of shared screams and relieved laughter.
