Through the accident, Koji finds out about Shizuko's infidelity, and is emotionally ripped apart by anger and sadness. In this grievous state, Fujimura's wife, Miwa, appears. Koji and Miwa become attracted to each other and begin a relationship, as they are both are grieving the loss of their partners.
