User ReviewAltered EWestern audiences may be deceived by the title, but this is indeed a zombie movie, though also not a Western zombie movie. Blending love story, horror, and kung fu tropes, it may sound like this Cantonese flick can't settle on a consistent tone, yet it always falls back on humourous, if not self-aware. Still, what passed as light-hearted kids jokes in '85 in HK now comes off as flat-out offensive, making the more egregious examples of swearing in the English subs all the more unexpected and accidentally hilarious. While the story is indeed overlong, it never grows boring, with plenty of diversion and good overcranked photography to showcase the graceful fight choreography for which the HK scene is known.
User ReviewMayMay Lhilarious. the best chinese film in the world.
User ReviewChuck TA very funny horror comedy and a good introduction into the world of hopping vampires.
User ReviewBleak Mthis is how we chinese think about ghosts :). and they do like to jump around HAHA! Great movie (ps: even better if you understand Cantonese)
User ReviewRichard TA classic that never gets old! And probably the only Moon Lee movie I'll get my wife to watch... It was actually her idea to watch it. Hopefully she'll watch the sequel with me, too.
User ReviewMichael CClassic HK movie with more laughs than Ghostbusters and Gremlins!!!
User ReviewSteve WI hit the jackpot with this film it has Hopping Vampires, a Succubus and Vampire Fu!
User ReviewGeorge LThis is a classic movie that combines comedy and horror in a way I haven't seen since. Why doesn't this happen more often? I put this movie on my special list that includes classics such as The Gods Must Be Crazy and The Goonies. Unforgettable.
User ReviewLee (The Lumbering Dead) MundayI like my vampires like I like my women. Asian and bobbing. If I could only shut their noise with post-it notes to the forehead too (no I will not marry you after a fortnight of swallowing. And who's the old geezer always parked outside my house when I'm out for a smoke and drinking milk while you're answering txts?). Lam Ching Ying rocks.
User ReviewNick HThoroughly entertaining, very funny action horror story! One of my favourite Hong Kong movies of all time. I could watch it over and over again.
