User Review - 10/10 by Nigel LRuss Meyer is a god Tarantino wishes eh was THIS GOOD
User Review - 10/10 by Brandon SI can't believe how underrated this is amongst Meyer's work. First of all, it features my favorite RM Actress of all of them, Haji, in a starring role. And she is brilliant as the tough, street-smart, recently widowed, shot in the head but still breathing, sexy yet elegant, Cajun queen, Ruby Bonner. Second, it's Alex Rocco's first film and he makes for a great protagonist, maintaining a certain edge and personality to him, while perfectly fitting in amongst the typical square jawed male population of the Meyer world. Third, the soundtrack is killer. Easily one of Meyer's best in more ways than one. Not only are the tunes kickass, but when one of them does sort of start to wear out a bit, Meyer freely acknowledges and makes fun of this by literally blowing the song away. Fourth, Meyer's cameo in this is definitely the best and longest of any of his films. He plays a character who one must assume is the polar opposite of Meyer himself; an asshole, womanizing, shit-brain sherif. Fifth, all the classic Meyer everything. Snake bites. Double entendres. Speed. Sex. Violence. Dynamite. Brilliantly out of place war references. Car chases. Absurdly large breasted women. Groovy dancing. Old, horny men. The great outdoors. Oddball gas station attendants, etc... Sixth, the photography in this one is gorgeous. Again, easily some of Meyer's best work in that area as well. Very cool shoots. Beautiful black and white. Desert landscapes. It's amazing. Perhaps this film is overshadowed by Faster Pussycat, but it hardly deserves to be. If anything it's a contender for the top of any Meyer fan's list. Yeah, maybe it doesn't have all of the explicit sexuality of his later work, but sometimes I think he's at his best when he doesn't have constant nudity to fall back on. There's some fantastic dialogue in here that is perfectly delicious.
User Review - 8/10 by Senor CAlex Rocco hunts down the punks that criminally assaulted his wife; along the way picking up Haji who's oldman was killed by the same gang. Haji almost seems miscast @ the beginning but Russ gives her character a nice speech about her past and it works..for me anyways plus she's sexy and sucks a mean snake bite...Meyer's has a great cameo as one of the most insensitive cops I've ever seen
User Review - 8/10 by Morris NThis was made during Russ Meyer's 'gothic' period, during which he made 3 other films all in black and white: 'Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!', 'Lorna' and 'Mudhoney'. 'Motor Psycho' is like 'Faster Pussycat...' with three boys instead of three girls taking the lead. 'Faster Pussycat...' reigns supreme over this, but this is still an excellent Meyer work and well worth a watch for any Meyer fans. Also stars the lovely Haji from 'Faster Pussycat...'
User Review - 8/10 by John ARuss Meyer was an industry unto himself. His obsession with womens breasts made his films a commercial commodity. But seeing as he financed and produced everything himself, there were no high stake producers or studios to share profits with. He owned and earned from every film he made (aside from a couple extreme examples that sucked due to studio interference anyways) Instead of being low-brow T&A trash films, he would instill his work with real craftsmanship. There is a very wide body of work that spans over 20 years that most of the public hasn't even discovered yet. From films like this one and Faster Pussycat, Kill,Kill to Up and Beneath the Valley of Ultra-Vixens, no film-maker before or since has presented this subect matter with this much respect, quality, care, and professionalism. Motor-psycho is a tale of a man and woman who have lost their lovers to a biker gang, that team up for revenge. Again, everything about his process elevates a style of film that should be barrel-bottom trash to legitimate greatness. But don't get me wrong - He still delivers the sex and violence, unencumbered by a ratings board that a self distributor like him has no concern for. He is dead now, but we will be discovering his work for years to come.
User Review - 8/10 by Peter DThis exploitation film works on more than one level and is pretty well paced to give an overall entertaining experience.
User Review - 8/10 by Daniel HOften overshadowed by "Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill" (made in the same year), this film has far less camp and more grit... whilst keeping all of the androgyny, as well as better directorial work. Overall, it is a slightly better film for it... it just isn't as gaudy or entertaining. It's depiction of violence, without as much humor, makes "Motor Psycho" more shocking and memorable than it's sister film. A neat piece of trivia: this is the first depiction of a post-traumatic-stress addled Vietnam Vet in film.
User Review - 6/10 by Michael MI'll admit I was a little disappointed by the lack of boobies - hey, this is the director of Mondo Topless we're talking about here - but it was a pretty great motorcycle-exploitation flick nonetheless. The scene where Haji sucks the snake venom out of Alex Rocco's leg is pretty much worth the price of admission alone ("SUCK IT!!!"), AND there's a political message: that usually-stoic gang leader, by the end of the film, ends up as a raving mad Vietnam veteran suffering from vivid flashbacks. Rambo First Blood, eat your heart out.
User Review - 6/10 by Dustin RI liked the energy that was put into this movie. Everything seemed full of craziness to the point where the movie never felt dull. I do think it's inferior to Faster Pussycat Kill Kill though.
User Review - 6/10 by Richard GMore 'Faster Pussycat Kill Kill' but this time it made sense.
