But, in his heart he is still a cop, and yearns for a chance to work in law enforcement. After befriending LAPD Detective Sommers, he begins to provide assistance to his American colleagues in solving crimes in the Russian-Los Angeles community. Soon, he is hired as a full-time consultant and given the title "Adviser on Russian Affairs" for the Los Angeles Police Department.
