Q Network Film Desk - 8/10 by James Kendrickgleefully perverse, but Shiota keep the tone restrained and suggestive, rather than obvious and graphic
User Review - 10/10 by Kimberly TGekkô no sasayaki was painfully intense that I nearly bit a lip off. The ending was sweet, if you got pass the whole 'who has the pants' in the relationship.
User Review - 10/10 by sitenoise !One of those "only from Japan" psycho-sexual dramas which explores adult themes of desire, domination, and twisted mind-fuck games and perversion ... acted out by teenagers. No comment on this peculiar film tradition. This is Akihiko Shiota's directorial debut and probably his strongest film. The focus is clear and concise. The powerful but flawed Harmful Insect would have benefited from such focus. It was the first one of his films I had seen and it pissed me off for days. Then I saw Canary and wasn't sure what to think. There wasn't much new to it and it seemed less well done. Now that I've seen Moonlight Whispers I have to go back and watch those two films again, and I will be seeking out all of his films. Funny how that works.
User Review - 10/10 by Chris SSatsuki gets mad at Takuya after finding out of some of his perversions but soon enough, she just seems to be in denial that she likes Takuya as well as torturing him and making him feel worse. Although I have no fetish for sadomasochism, I have a strange liking for this film which isn't your average romance film and shows an eccentric yet unique relationship between two teenagers. I also love how the film ends with a happy tune despite the strange and socially unacceptable relationship they have.
User Review - 10/10 by Private UI wasn't sure what to expect when I saw this. It's a very tender look into a very strange relationship between two high school kids who find themselves drawn into S&M. It's a surprisingly good depiction of S&M.
User Review - 10/10 by Kathy Hexcellent movie! reflects the facets of our personalities that other bring out in us. haunting and twisted but meticulously done!
User Review - 8/10 by Isaac JIt's quite difficult to find movies that talks, without any kind of prejudices, about fetish and femdom-oriented relations further from porno. That's the case of this movie, that shows us the story of a high school student who wishes his classmate, but in a very original and unusual way... A different way to see relations of teens in Japan, beyond the conventional stories of urban tribes, bullying, baseball teams and so... Interesting.
User Review - 8/10 by Alyssa NMost melodramatic stories of teenage unrequited love do little to pique my curiosity, let alone provoke an emotional response, but this movie did both. It stands out from the crowd because it's about S&M, but rather than being there for humor or sensationalism, the submissive tendencies of the protagonist are portrayed in a very real and sensitive manner that anyone who's ever had trouble accepting themselves can relate to. But neither is his reluctant girlfriend meant to be the villain, as her fears are presented in a way that's easy to understand. It's exactly because of this strong sense of realism that I found the ending to be disappointing, as it was simply too extreme to be believable. But that won't stop me from watching this movie again if I ever get the chance.
User Review - 6/10 by Jason JA romance movie with a difference as two teenagers embark on a sado masochistic relationship. This is quite interesting in that it delves into the premise that not all relationships are normal. Perverse and twisted it may be but don't let that put you off from watching. Give it a go.
