Movie Reviews

Radio Times - 6/10 by David AldridgeIt's corny, but it also represents an ideal fantasy fulfilment for preteen girls.
Film Journal International - 6/10 by David NohThis neither-fish-nor-fowl project should end up pleasing no one.
Independent Online (South Africa) - 6/10 by Theresa SmithCute and terribly sweet, this family film skews quite young. It is aimed at the tweens who are familiar with the idea of famous children, but don't really know much about how other children live their lives.
Epoch Times - 6/10 by Joe BendelThere is nothing objectionable in screenwriter Chris Hurford's adaptation of Byng's children's book and there is a good deal of merit to its spirited protagonist.
The Guardian - 4/10 by Leslie FelperinIn the hands of director Christopher N Rowley and an assortment of screenwriters (including Byng), the result is a rebarbative mess – mirthless and shoddy like a disposable Christmas stocking novelty.
Total Film - 4/10 by Tom BondCelia Imrie and Emily Watson are a breath of fresh air and lead Raffey Cassidy fares better than most of the kids, but it’s not enough to save this dreary caper.
HeyUGuys - 4/10 by Stefan PapeMolly Moon follows all of the beats of the genre in an unapologetic manner, but what transpires is a film that feels more like an elongated episode of a programme on CBBC, which really, is where this project is more likely to have found its home.
The Straits Times (Singapore) - 4/10 by Yip Wai YeeIt is all very over-the-top and in-your-face, a storytelling approach that feels grossly dated, like something done by The Three Stooges.
Common Sense Media - 4/10 by Sandie Angulo ChenOccasionally cute but often over-the-top orphan adventure.
The Hollywood Reporter - 3/10 by Frank ScheckIt lacks the wit and charm necessary to interest any but the most undemanding preteen viewers.
