Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzThe easy rapport between Gable and Ava becomes the film's main selling point.
Combustible CelluloidJeffrey M. AndersonMogambo is a silly, laid-back Hollywood romance with an exotic setting, but it's nonetheless quite affecting and satisfying.
User Reviewvictor lPretty spectacular scenery and you just have to love Grace Kelly. The young Ava Gardner was breathtaking. I really enjoyed having the chance to see this beautifully filmed epic on the big screen at the Vintage Film Festival.

User ReviewK DTruly an adventurous love story, and a love triangle for the ages. Who couldn't help but fall in love with Grace Kelly!! I was rather rooting for her and Gable to make their dreamy romance a reality but Gable, who also turned in another wonderful performance, played the noble card and kept the married couple together. Ava Gardner really stole the film though, she really brought you along with her on her emotional ride throughout the film. The movie itself was put together nicely, amazing scenes and shots from Africa and a beautiful film from 1953.
User Reviewberta abrill.....again !!! another 3 great actors.....They dont make them like they used to.
User Reviewcarly hMogambo is not one of the greatest of John Ford's films, but it is still a solid piece of work. Clark Gable is at his manliest, and Grace Kelly is cast perfectly though her performance is not so perfect. However, Ava Gardner steals the show. Of course, John Ford himself makes great use of the African landscape, applying his brilliant American West photography to the jungles and rivers of Africa. This film is a good piece of entertainment.
User ReviewWilliam WNot a great film considering it's from John Ford, but like Alfred Hitchcock's misfires, it was still very entertaining and worth watching. Clark Gable is excellent and one-of-a-kind as he tries to run a safari while two beautiful (but completely out of their element) women practically invade his camp and fight over him. Recommended to people who enjoy classic films, I found it in both my Clark Gable and Grace Kelly boxed sets.
