Leave your thoughts about Mind Game.
Village VoiceSimon AbramsThe exhilarating Japanese animated coming-of-age fantasy Mind Game plays out like a hallucinogen-fueled shaggy-dog joke that only ends after twenty-year-old horndog Nishi (Kôji Imada) discovers that the world does not revolve around him.
Georgia StraightMike UsingerBut for all the insanity-smoking koi, giant talking flowers living on dinosaur poop... there's also a beautiful poetry to Mind Game.
Common Sense MediaBrian CostelloCult-classic anime has lots of violence, language.
New York TimesA.O. ScottA sometimes enthralling, sometimes exhausting tour de force.
VarietyRonnie ScheibBrain-teasing, wildly unpredictable animated feature.
User ReviewJames WBest alternative animation I've seen,fast,odd,colourfull,sweet,charming,life-affirming.
User ReviewBrain CAs the title implies, this is a total mind fuck so be prepared to have your mind warped. This one of those japanese animated films that deviates from the typical genre of anime in that it uses its own original style and covers themes and stories never touched upon before in an anime. The characters are very real even if what they are able to do by the end of the film is incredibly unreal. The movie is without a doubt over the top, they certainly take advantage of having the film be an animation. Incredibly imaginative, creative, moving, mind fucking, and simply one of the best animated films out there. Worth anyones time
User ReviewAleix Psadly ignored masterpiece (only seen on big screens in Japan -where it had a very poor box office response- and in some international festivals, never released internationally, not even in dvd), it really deserved much more attention. Go buy the japanese dvd, there are 3 different great editions.
User ReviewJohn Pyou will feel more alive and happy after watching this movie
User ReviewKevin WBrilliant. Just fucking brilliant. The animation, the concept, everything down to the rapid fire images, which give so much backstory. Even if you don't typically watch Japanese animation, make an exception for this one. Amazing.
