Full Plot Details

Gina, an American art student who moved to Italy to work as an art restorer, is asked by the priest of the local gothic church to clean up an old painting that was found there and which may contain a second, hidden painting that was painted over for some reason. Gina later visits her best friend Catherine who's inherited a nearby castle where she once lived before moving to America as a child. Her old nanny is now the only other person there. The two girls visit a traveling sideshow carnival and invite the performers to the castle for dinner. Both girls fall for the handsome leader of the carnival who unfortunately turns out to be an evil magician and serial rapist. He and his evil dwarf minion drug the girls' drinks and have their way with them. The magician then takes Catherine to his twin brother who has turned into a beastman due to a curse to have sex with her while she's still out. In the morning the girls wake up barely remembering what happened. Gina leaves to work on the painting but Catherine receives visitation from a girl who turns out to be her murdered ancestor. She shows her the portal to the place out of time where the carnival is hiding. Catherine learns that the two brothers have been cursed as punishment centuries ago to turn into beastman each day and never age. She realizes that she and the "good" brother were meant for each other and decides to help him break the curse, even if it means death for all of them.

User Review - 6/10 by Tristan PA extremely wierd movie by Fullmoon. No terror toys, or puppets to come after you. Just one story based of the classic fairy tale- Beauty and the Beast. Starts off slow and picks it up. Very great music, which definitely gives you the feel of this dark and dreamy landscape. Not bad acting, is low- budget. However a pretty good story, a good movie to watch if your willing to kill a hour and half.

Full of sensual moments, some decent FX and a setting perfectly suited for this type of film, Meridian ranks as one of the better Full Moon films in their library. Long time Full Mooner, Phil Fondacaro, has but a small part (forgive the pun) but I always enjoy seeing his performance when he's on screen. This guy needs more work.

Anybody that knows me is fully aware that I have a soft spot for movies by Full Moon Pictures. They always remind me of my teenage years savouring low budget horror flicks, but somehow 'Meridian' had escaped my notice. This is a typical Charles Band movie when he is in one of his gothic fantasy moods. Forbidding castles, ghosts, monsters and other such hokum are the flavour, along with the usual dose of partial nudity and only a very small amount of gore. The storyline and acting are as wooden as you would expect, but anyone who is familiar with the genre knows exactly what they are going to get. 'Meridian' is not one of the best of Charles Band's movies, but it still has the same charm that has kept me a fan of his work for all these years.
User Review - 6/10 by Shantel DA bit of a Beauty & The Beast tale. Sherilyn and Charlie are beyond hot in this and it helps that they show LOTS of nudity! ;) I didn't quite get the whole Brothers being connected thing, or the weird ending.
