Ann Williams (Miriam Hopkins), secretary to eccentric drama critic T.H. Skeates (A.E. Matthews), is persuaded to alter a ruinous review of Shakespearean actor Edmond Davey (Sebastian Shaw) by Davey's wife Barbara (Gertrude Lawrence).
