Leave your thoughts about Medicine Man.
Hartford CourantMalcolm JohnsonWhile Medicine Man clearly has its heart in saving the rain forest, its brain is stuck in that place where Hollywood formulas are stillborn.
The Globe and Mail (Toronto)H.J. KirchhoffEntertaining in places, Medicine Man suffers from a predictable story and annoying supporting characters.
Washington PostHal HinsonThe pleasure we take from Medicine Man comes not only from the actors or the engrossing progress of the narrative, but from every aspect, including Donald McAlpine's ravishing cinematography and Jerry Goldsmith's luscious score.
Dispatch-Tribune NewspapersSteve CrumInteresting, intriguing blend of character study and action with Sean Connery.
Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzThe big-budget pic has Connery as the maverick scientist to keep thing perking and exotic background shots, but little else going for it.
Entertainment WeeklyOwen GleibermanIn the end, there’s something opportunistic and glib about the way that Medicine Man yokes together medical wish fulfillment and save-the-rain-forest agitprop into a neat, messagey package. Nothing takes the fun out of romance quite like liberal earnestness.
The Associated PressDolores BarclayStunning rainforest vistas and shocking ravaged forest footage matched to what was probably a pretty funny script featuring one fine performance and too obvious good intentions adds up to tedium.
Tampa Bay TimesHal LipperAll of the elements are here for a movie I would probably enjoy very much, but somehow they never come together.
USA TodayMike ClarkAn indelicate attempt to create some African Queen-style magic while curing cancer and saving the rainforests in the bargain, this jumbo-budget two-character piece suffers from a very weak script and a lethal job of miscasting.
The New York TimesJanet MaslinMedicine Man transports a lot of Hollywood-style hot air to the remote jungle outpost where Dr. Campbell has accidentally stumbled upon a cancer-reversing formula.
