A non-relative, a truck driver who can't deliver his load of tomatoes in Paris, brings a nephew who was part of the uprising. Everyone is on strike and the matriarch can't be buried.

EmanuelLevy.Com - 8/10 by Emanuel LevyThough well acted by great French actors (Michel Piccoli), Malle's tale, set in 1968 in the countryside, is too light and trivial as family melodrama
Spirituality and Practice - 7/10 by Frederic and Mary Ann BrussatRevolves around the response of a large family to the death of the matriarch.
User Review - 10/10 by AIMZ TI just love this film. Louis Malle and his cast really create the most memorable Weekend in the Country since Bergman.
User Review - 8/10 by Nikolas GWONDERFULLY ENJOYABLE LITTLE FRENCH MOVIE. BIT INCESTUOUS I THINK
User Review - 8/10 by Rebecca RLove the opening shots - wonderful misdirections that sets the tone of the film. It's funny, albeit rather insensitive to women and lesbians. Still, it's a French film that entertains but unsettles you just enough to make you think too.
User Review - 8/10 by Adam SLouis Malle and Jean-Claude Carriere's entry in the tried and true Country Mansion genre, with the always welcome Michel Piccoli overseeing the gathering of his extended family for his mother's funeral. Funny and moving, with a bit of politics (sexual and otherwise), and Bunuelian surrealism (courtesy of Carriere, a Bunuel collaborator), with a wonderfully eccentric and gifted cast.
User Review - 6/10 by Marc LNicel little comedy set in the days of the student strike in May 1968. Kind of drags at time but saved by an always outstanding Michel Piccoli.
User Review - 6/10 by Aljane CSubtle humour interspersed within this French drama set against the backdrop of the May '68 riots...... French through & through....
User Review - 4/10 by Shakti SI didn't get this movie. I think it wants to criticise something.
