Max reads in a newspaper, that Gladys Maxence, a rich American woman, seeks a young sportsman for marriage. When he arrives at her home he finds four other competitors. To win Gladys' hand he has to beat them in various sporting events, e.g. horse racing, fencing, boxing. After the seventh event there is a tie between Max and Willy.
