Neil Baldwin, born just after World War II, is considered to have learning difficulties but he has an appetite for life and, encouraged by his mother Mary, leaves his butchery job to join the circus as Nello the Clown, being undaunted when the circus moves on without him. He moves to Keele University, where Mary has a cleaning job, appointing himself the unofficial greeter to new students, a role rewarded by an honorary degree in 2013. He also gets to manage its unofficial football team, named after him, and in 1992 talks his way into becoming the kit man and mascot of his beloved football team Stoke City. For Neil there are no boundaries - his interest in religion leads to his becoming a lay preacher whilst he presents himself at the House of Commons for tea with MP Tony Benn and at Cambridge University, where he strikes up a friendship with Prince Andrew, which results in his being on the queen's Christmas card list. With his indomitable attitude overcoming early set-backs and the death of his beloved mother for Neil life is - marvellous.

User ReviewF BThat is the most brilliant, uplifting 90 minutes I have ever seen. Why they didn't make it a theatrical release I'll never know, but YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS! It is just perfect, poingnant, joyful and so many other things I'm lost for words.
User ReviewKhaled MMarvelous, Toby Jones performance is probably the best I have seen by any actor in recent years, can't imagine anyone else portraying the real life biopic of Neil Baldwin. The story is full of laughter, innocence, positivity and also a tearjerker. As Neil Baldwin inspires and uplifts his team in real life the movie will do the same for you. Tells you what an optimistic outlook can get you in life even if you have disadvantages.
User ReviewDavid Da great feel good movie that kind of puts life in perspective.
User ReviewFred LGREAT MOVIE - seems a bit strange at first and drags a bit but it's great
User ReviewTiago CThe true story of Nello, featuring Toby Jones that deliver an amazing portrayal of the main character. Nello, or Neil Baldwin in non-short, is a little fella with Aspberger syndrome. He has some fantastic attributes that is impossible to not find amusing. He cares for his mom almost as much as he cares for his team Stoke City. A club that he eventually get's to work for. It's a very human and heart warming film. Free for effects and stuff that makes it unreal. This is as real as it gets (well, with a amazing story and character added). A small TV film, that deserves a bigger audience. It has several superb scenes, both funny and sadder ones. The music need a mention - sung by some sort of choir. A very great touch there from the crew. Certainly one of the most inspirational films of 2014. 8.5 out of 10 budgies.
User ReviewPaul AGreat movie, very inspiring. it had some very funny moments and also some sad ones. definitely a movie worth watching.

User ReviewPrivate UBaldwin's life is like a toned down Forrest Gump. What a remarkable human being. An outstanding performance from Toby Jones. The film itself is alot better than its made for telly release. A real feel good flick.
User ReviewGareth JUplifting for 2 seconds. Then you realise that there aren't that many football teams to go around.
