Ivan Bibic returns to his Pittsburgh PA suburb after surviving a Japanse POW camp, causing regular nightmares. All the time he remained faithfully devoted to his childhood love, fellow ethnic Yugoslavian virgin Maria Bosic. She dates him again, thus ruining a virtual engagement to captain Al Griselli. I loved this film when I saw it in the 1980's I am same age as Ms.Kinski She was so wonderful in this Film !! A Beautiful Portrait of a wife but pushed so far as to have an affair & get pregnant to get her one true love back Ivan Everyone should see this especially now with USA being at war since 2002 This film is Not for children Very Sexual in Nature I give it 5 stars I own the DVD |

I love the Mitchum's role, the "descaro" of Carradine and the Savage's passion. I think that Sanna's point would be true (quite erotic picture for sure). | User ReviewGabriel KBeau film que Maria's Lovers même si dans le genre je lui prà (C)fère Two Lovers de James Gray. Pas mal de choses pour me plaire tout d'abord, il y a cette superbe photographie et une mise en scène que l'on sent rà (C)ellement maitrisà (C)e de bout en bout. Certains plans à (C)tant magnifiques, notamment ceux de la chaise dans le champ. Ajoutez à cela un casting magnifique avec John Savage, Robert Mitchum, Nastassja Kinski et Keith Carradine, un très joli monde, assurant encore un max. Les apparitions de Mitchum à l'à (C)cran restent encore extraordinaires. Point de vue scà (C)nario, on assiste surtout à la reconstruction psychologique d'Ivan, qui malgrà (C) son retour de la guerre ne l'a pas encore quittà (C) rà (C)ellement. La sà (C)quence de fin, en noir et blanc, est très forte. Il reste quand même que je me suis ennuyà (C) vers le milieu du film, un sentiment qu'on tournait en rond dans l'histoire, certes le personnage est perdu, mais le rà (C)cit stagnait quelque peu pour moi, ce qui constitue le seul bà (C)mol ressenti. |

| User ReviewPeter MThe way this is packaged it looks like a â??Bâ?? grade movie playing on its sexy content. Although Natassja is beautiful, the film relies on subtle play of some strong characters and the disturbed nature of the main character who has returned, psychologically damaged from his WW11 experiences. Natassja is not acting in her first language and I think this is also the case for some of the other actors, this adds another dimension; a plus for me but some viewers definitely see this as a flaw. This has something of that Hollywood formula that answers too much and supplies every answer, but it is appealing and draws some beautiful characters and it is ultimately rewarding. |
