| User ReviewGrumplinCloying attempt to self-mythologized as a troubled rockstar that highlights MGK’s complete lack of awareness regarding his place in the rock pantheon. It’s deeply embarrassing to hear this 30 year old man go off about his art when that art includes writing songs like “drunk face” and “my ex’s best friend”. He genuinely seems to think he is creating Important Art and he is intensely devoted to whatever weird Cobain cosplay he’s doing. At one point, he recounts an extremely fake sounding story where he allegedly yelled at Megan Fox *with* the barrel of a shotgun in his mouth and pulled the trigger but the gun jammed. If it’s an attempt to raise awareness for mental health issues, it comes across as a romanticization of mental illness in attempt to add depth to his public persona/art. It just reads as fake because you can’t simultaneously yell and have the barrel of a gun in your mouth but whatever. There isn’t a single moment in this that comes across as sincere - Machine Gun Kelly continually talks about how authentic he is but he does more telling than showing. I involuntarily cringed at multiple parts but his cluelessness and lack of insight is pretty funny. He comes across as particularly airheaded. |
