Village VoiceSteve EricksonFortunately, there's far more to his slickly directed film than mere virtual tourism.
VarietyJoe LeydonSufficiently sweet to serve as a date movie for all ages, Lost for Words comes across as almost subversively retrograde in its old-fashioned approach to charting the slow blossoming of a cross-cultural romance.
Chicago Sun-TimesBill StametsLost for Words is directed with little originality by Stanley J. Orzel.
Chicago Daily HeraldDann Gire[Faris'] relationship with co-star Huang, while cordial, hardly reflects an emotional connection strong enough for him to conquer his character's post-romantic breakup stress syndrome.
Los Angeles TimesMartin TsaiThe film's colorblindness does not make up for its latent sexism.
The New York TimesAndy WebsterThe conventions are trundled out in Stanley J. Orzel’s cross-cultural romance, Lost for Words, but not the tension or the chemistry.
User ReviewWS WIt's always been interesting yet funny how Hong Kong looks like in the eyes of foreign films-makers. Probably the world of Suzie Wong no more, the film vibes still looks so very awkward however, just like this one. Storyline is totally unbelievable but it did capture certain local phenomenon (one highlight is that: it dares to touch the subject of underground church in China) no matter how shallow & ridiculous it sounds actually.
