Movie Reviews

Cinema em Cena - 8/10 by Pablo VillaçaO brilhante texto de Golding sobrevive até mesmo aos tropeços da direção insegura de Hook.
The Globe and Mail (Toronto) - 8/10 by Jay ScottThe film, simplistically assuming the book's central metaphor to be imperialism - hence the military slant - retains the bare bones of Gollding's narrative, but that's all. There's little attempt to hint at the deeper issues.
Entertainment Weekly - 8/10 by Owen GleibermanAs a novel, Lord of the Flies never was much more than a Brat Pack Heart of Darkness. It’s doubtful a screen version could be any better than this one.
PopMatters - 6/10 by J.C. Maçek III1963's Lord of the Flies was a transcendent experience in accurate filmmaking, 1990's Lord of the Flies is only a movie.
Miami Herald - 5/10 by Steve SonskyDirector Harry Hook’s literal, unimaginative visual approach makes the tale seem mundane and tedious.
Chicago Sun-Times - 4/10 by Roger EbertThe symbolism is right up front and unmissable, and the story part -- the events that in theory should cause our throats to tighten and our pulses to quicken -- is pretty lame.
Rolling Stone - 4/10 by Peter TraversHook may keep the action spinning, but the noise you hear isn’t life. It’s the sound of symbols crashing.
Tampa Bay Times - 4/10 by Hal LipperHook's visual sense is not acute here; he doesn't show the spontaneous sense of time and place that made his first film, The Kitchen Toto (1988), so convincing. He seems more concerned with telling the story than showing it, and there are too many passages in which the boys are simply trading dialogue.
Los Angeles Times - 4/10 by Michael WilmingtonThis version not only doesn’t surpass or match Brook’s, it makes the material look bad.
User Review - 10/10 by RogueOneBestThis movie very good I love the inclusion of the pilot I was extreamly sad he was not in the book and he is the best character in the movie he adds so much development to the other characters.
