Put off by all this, she is determined to cause a scandal so that none of the family will receive any of the inheritance. An arrow-straight Fairbanks is volunteered to be the one to "compromise" her, but the two end up falling for each other. Upon being discovered in Loretta's boudoir, Fairbanks makes a hasty exit out of the nearest window. The romance seems destined to fail, but Fairbanks (and his two friends) have other ideas, which are accidentally "aided" by the two prudish aunts.

| User ReviewJoe MHammy, campy and oh so dated - yet enjoyable, humorous cream puff from 1930. All the tropes - young attractive heiress, penniless handsome suitor, dowdy old aunts who are loosened up by the devil of drink and various other cartoonish characters - but it all comes together in less than 70 minutes. Young is charming, Fairbanks fabulous to look at, but the show is stolen by the two male escorts - Nugent and Selby (who today, come off as so gay, though may not have been intended at the time) - and the two spinster aunts - Wales and Fazenda - in their over the top performances. Worth a gander, as they would say in the 1930's. |
