EmanuelLevy.ComEmanuel LevyOne of the freshest indies of the 1990s, Laws of Gravity offers an ultra-realistic depiction of terrifying nihilism
Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzThe characters seem so real that this film could be mistaken for a documentary.
NewsweekDavid AnsenShot in Brooklyn in 12 days on a $38,000 budget, this flawlessly acted movie about two dead-end thieves owes an obvious debt to Mean Streets, yet it finds an urgent, hyperreal style all its own.
All Movie GuideJosh Ralske...A sustained level of tension that few street dramas can match.
User ReviewEric SI love this movie. I can never find it to rent it though. I used to have the VHS and I watched it several times.
User ReviewMoon Mone of the best films I saw at the cinema I left the cinema in a hazy daze
User ReviewGregory WNick Gomez is one of the best directors of realistic violence and this movie is an example of that!
User ReviewArnoldo RThis movie has enough acting to get you moved. Superb arguementing involving the the two small town crooks and the camera is always filming something exciting.
User ReviewSandeep AVirtually unknown, Nick Gomez' debut is a cinema verite masterpiece. It's almost as though you were watching a documentary. With a very strong cast, Gomez updates Mean Streets but with a completely unique vision. Adam Trese is brilliant as Jon, a foolish thug protected by Jimmy. But as the tagline explains, sooner or later, everything goes down.
User ReviewStephen E"Laws of Gravity" is about a bunch of violent, foul-mouthed people whose daily activities consist of shoplifting, drinking, smoking, and getting in fights with each other. In fact, so many small conversations escalate into full-on brawls that it actually becomes humorous to watch them carry on. Director Nick Gomez does an excellent job of depicting real life in Brooklyn, doing so with long takes and a handheld camera, and both the writing and the acting are top-notch. "Laws of Gravity" isn't about story, but rather about a way of life that most of us are unfamiliar with.
