User ReviewMark BAn amazing tale of three people struggling to stay civilized when everyone on earth is dead.
User ReviewAj VThis is a very interesting, but improbable, movie. There is literally one woman left on Earth, and more than one man, you can guess what happens. This movie is exciting and intense, I liked it.
User ReviewJose MA really good Roger Corman flick. The acting was a little over-the-top, but it was a decently solid movie. I would recommend it even to those that aren't into Bad Movie Night Cinema
User ReviewReal GThe Last Woman on Earth is a subtextual examiniation of the attraction and neccessity of sexes. It's a study of what two men would most likely do if there was only one woman left on the planet. That and it's a Roger Corman classic. And to boot, it was written by Chinatown's Robert Towne who stars as the lawyer in this B movie. So the question is how do we get to the have only one woman left on the entire Earth? Well, while the group of three are scuba diving in the Caribbean, some massive event happens on earth that wipes out the oxygen for a few minutes and people can't breathe and henceforth keel over. Did I just use henceforth in a sentence?! Anyway, so over time, testosterone begins to build up between our two men and it all leads to a knock down drag out fight that leaves one of them dead. And then, there's only ONE man and ONE woman left on the whole entire earth. Catch my drift? ;) Anyway, Corman's B-movies tend to be a step above other B-movies from the late 50s to early 70s. I mean, there's an actual story to them and they make you think, what would it be like if there was only one woman left on the entire earth. Scary scary thoughts....
User ReviewJedrik EThis movie was ok. The characters didn't really grow at all throughout the whole thing, but it had an alright story and it interested me enough to see what the outcome was going to be.
User ReviewBrittany Minteresting concept, boring in execution. acting made me want to pull out my hair
User ReviewLowell DThe ending is strangely religious, yet satisfying nonetheless. That pompous nihilist Martin ("I don't believe in anything. I'm too civilized.") gets what he deserves in the end.
User ReviewStephen VDecent movie. A lot better than most new hollywood movies. This movie can actually have a good storyline, keep it going without getting annoying, AND have a good ending.
User ReviewJ RAnother decent Corman film, the title credits and the opening scene set the stage perfectly for the rest of an apocalypse story. The credits slowly pan along the painting of a womanâ??s curves, which is followed by the main characters watching a cock fight, a metaphor for the rest of the film. The character of Ev is pure sex, setting up the conflict between the two men, a story that admittedly stumbles a bit in the middle, but recovers about half way through to become something of an Antonioni-style movie, something of an interesting departure for Corman.
User ReviewTheresa JLike most exploitation films of it's time it has an intriguing title and a poster promising a much better movie than it actually is. The first entry in Corman's so called Puerto Rico Trilogy, this film does offer an interesting premise and the involvement of Town is strangely interesting as well. However the movie lives up to it's low budget and leave any interest unfulfilled. It's about what you might expect...if you don't expect much.
