User ReviewSunnie WLast Summer In The Hamptons is the tale of the Mora family's final summer in their long-time vacation retreat in the Hamptons, which has to be sold because of financial problems. The large family, led by matriarch Helene (Vivica Lindfors) is joined by a their acting students and Hollywood star Oona (Victoria Foyt). Helene has been a great legitimate theatre actress for many years and Oona has done Hollywood and now wants to be legit. Connections are made, hearts brokena and family secrets are revealed in the antics of this stellar ensemble cast which includes Jon Robin Baitz, Andre Gregory, Melissa Leo, Martha Plimpton and an appearance by Henry Jaglom, himself, as a Hollywood director. Foyt has some very funny scenes where she uses animals as characters to express herself. Lindfors is the cement that hold the hole bunch together. Expect long scenes with lots of dialog and introspection. Sexual confusion, identity crises and sibling fireworks are all a part of the humorous and moving film. This was Lindfors last performance before she died and it's a great one.
User Reviewdeep dMy favorite Henry Jaglom film. A funny movie about a theatrical family gathering for one last time at their summer home. Martha Plimpton is a hoot!
User ReviewBrandon QWonderfully realized... Truly a lifetime achievement spectacularly starring and dedicated to the memory and distinguished career of Viveca Lindfors... The assembled cast is uniformly excellent and LAST SUMMER IN THE HAMPTONS emerges as an honest, moving and entertaining effort by Jaglom and Foyt... I really loved it!
User ReviewLisa WI used to like these kinds of movies, but I now find them tiresome.
User ReviewMichael Sthe dialogue is a copy of woody allen style - i almost makes me repulsive towards the whole stupid yippies going melodramatic - nonetheless, i am still watching in practicing the "criticism and self-criticism" efforts of communism thinking.
