Salon.comMelanie McFarlandJesus Christ Superstar Live! diverges from television's holiday tradition of genuflecting before Hollywood history and its long-accepted and outdated vision of what religious figures look like.
New York Magazine/VultureMatt Zoller SeitzThis Superstar was the closest that live television has come to creating a hybrid new form, combining elements of epic cinema, the stage musical, and the concert film. It's a minor miracle.
E! OnlineLauren PiesterFinal verdict: That was so great that we don't even care about how confused we sometimes were. Also, Hot Topic should merchandise the costumes.
GQJoshua RiveraJesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert proved just how freaking good a live TV musical can be when it's firing on all cylinders.
Hollywood ReporterDavid RooneyHere's the thing: This was a phenomenally balanced production of Jesus Christ Superstar, in which star power was equaled by depth of feeling and characterization in all the principals.

NewsdayVerne GayAlice Cooper as Herod blew the roof off the Armory. Or was it perhaps that atomic tangerine lamé suit that did all the destruction? In any event, poor Armory.
Boston HeraldMark A. PerigardThe ensemble players were the unsung heroes of the night, throwing themselves into every exhausting, frenetic number.
User ReviewDonna MIt was a beautiful productions with A list Broadway stats.
User ReviewJason VNBC really outdid themselves with Jesus Christ Superstar. Stellar cast; great production. Fantastic all around. Sara Bareilles CRUSHED IT as Mary Magdalene. Brandon Victor Dixon was AMAZING as Judas. Alice Cooper OWNED THE STAGE as Herod. Norm Lewis' voice blew me away as Caiaphas. If there was a weak point, I felt like John Legend's falsetto wasn't quite up to the high notes for J.C., but that's not saying much, because even the low point in this cast was over the top. Amazing production all around.
