Leave your thoughts about Is That a Gun in Your Pocket?.
Movie NationRoger MooreThis is a toothless satire, a sermon lacking the bite or broad wit of similar films.
VarietyJoe LeydonThere are bad movies, and then there are worse movies, and then there are full-bore misfires such as Is That a Gun in Your Pocket?
New York TimesNeil GenzlingerEverybody involved with the awful comedy Is That a Gun in Your Pocket?... owes Aristophanes an apology. It’s one thing to borrow a guy’s premise; it’s quite another to transform it into something this unwatchable.
Washington PostMark JenkinsMost of the time, though, the movie is too busy being saucy or sappy to even look at its target.
Hollywood ReporterSheri LindenCooper weaves a few well-placed observations about gun culture and male condescension into the heavy-handed mess.
Film InquiryJacqui BlueIf I hadn't committed to writing a review of Is That A Gun In Your Pocket?, I likely wouldn't have had to convince myself to sit through the second half of it.
Austin ChronicleMarjorie BaumgartenIs That a Gun resorts to smutty humor and moralistic speeches to confront the issue of American gun violence in the wake of Newtown, Conn. This movie uses those murdered babies’ name in vain.
Los Angeles TimesNoel MurrayThe movie tries to wrap an important social message in comedy, but it’s unpalatable all the way through.
Village VoiceChris PackhamThe film combines agonizing scenes of didactic earnestness about gun violence with the absolutely soul-crushing ennui of flaccid marriage jokes.
User ReviewLisa KWe live in Norco, Ca. and had to drive 60 miles to the theater. It was well worth the drive and I'd do it again! My husband and I loved the movie. Lots of laughs from beginning to end. There were times all the men in the theater laughed, and times when all the women in the theater laughed, which proved the point of the movie. It was fun and sexy, but never made us feel uncomfortable, which I was thankful for. Very entertaining, and a perfect date night movie! It was great to see Cloris Leachman in the film, she was a real hoot! Twists and surprises that make you think deep, and wonder "what if" this happened in my town. I loved the way they tied the "very beginning" to the "final ending". That was clever and sweet and will put a smile on your face for the rest of the day. I hope more people will get the chance to just get out and have fun watching this movie.
