Movie Reviews

RogerEbert.com - 9/10 by Scout TafoyaIp Man 4: The Finale is apparently going to be the last time Yen dons the familiar black cassock to play Ip Man, and Yip orchestrates a fittingly spectacular finish to the saga.
The A.V. Club - 8/10 by Noel MurrayAs it happens, the weakest part of Ip Man 3 is its run-of-the-mill, almost juvenile potboiler plot.
RogerEbert.com - 8/10 by Odie HendersonIp Man 3 also sneaks in welcome moments of mushy romantic sweetness between Master Ip and his wife, Cheung Wing-sing (Lynn Hung).
Village Voice - 7/10 by Simon AbramsThe sturdy but shallow martial arts melodrama Ip Man 4: The Finale isn’t much more than what fans have already gotten from the popular action franchise.
Los Angeles Times - 7/10 by Michael RechtshaffenIp Man 3, set in Hong Kong circa 1959, combines the customary, inventively choreographed action with an unexpected emotional depth, proving as hard to resist as its entertaining predecessors.
Film Threat - 7/10 by Alan NgIp Man 4: The Finale is a thrilling end to the Ip Man saga. The action is fast-paced, and the fighting is poetic. The story not only brings a modern twist to the legend but is just as relevant today as it was in the 70s.
The New York Times - 7/10 by Ben KenigsbergThere is no mystery about who wins the movie’s final bout, but it is never less than thrilling to watch Yen’s fluttering limbs in action.
Los Angeles Times - 7/10 by Kenneth TuranOne of the unexpected pleasures of Ip Man 4 is a warm montage of highlights from the previous three films that plays at the close. Star Yen has said there are no more Ip films in his future, but no one would be upset if another one happened to come along.
The A.V. Club - 7/10 by Mike D'AngeloSo it feels quite ironic that Ip Man 4: The Finale wraps up the parent series with a movie that’s comparatively weak in the kung fu department but atypically solid at killing time between set pieces. The highs are lower than usual, the lows higher. It all goes down smooth.
Variety - 7/10 by Jessica KiangFlat-footed storytelling meets fleet-footed choreography and sumptuous production values in the untaxingly fun Ip Man 4: The Finale.
