Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzAn ineffectual and humorless Red-scare film made during the height of the Cold War.
Miami HeraldBill CosfordInvasion USA might actually be fun in a campy way if it weren't so dourly exploitative.
Chicago Sun-TimesRoger EbertInvasion U.S.A. is a brain-damaged, idiotic thriller, not even bad enough to be laughable.
The New York TimesVincent CanbyThough in his last movie, Code of Silence, Mr. Norris, the karate champion-turned-movie actor, seemed on the verge of becoming a kind of benign Clint Eastwood character, he loses all credibility in this awful film.
User ReviewGloom-shroomi mean chuck Norris going around saving the world from bombs and doing more than the police does
User ReviewFaxthtaxThis movie is hilarious watching it in 2022. It is the epitaph of 80´s Over the top action movies. If Chuck Norris fact is based on one of his movies, This IS IT!!! Norris never gets touched, scratched or injured ONCE. Plot is super thin. Some Russian whacko decides to invade USA because "he can". No background story needed. Apparently he has a horn in the side for Chuck Norris character which he tries to kill off in the beginning, but with no success. Russian whacko invades Miami USA with four landing craft boats full of terrorist. Chuck is in pursuit goes after him with 2 Uzi submachine guns as his preferred weapon. He just drives around Miami looking for trouble. Some terrorist opens fire somewhere, Chuck comes around to have fun with them. There is so many outrageous scenes in this movie with a non-existent script. The US Army eventually shows up with a dozen tanks and boatloads of troops and firepower, but seems to have trouble to wipe out a small squadron of vigilante terrorists in the last stand-off.. Hilarious The terrorists pulls up to Suburb homes with single-use bazookas that seems to have 5 rockets in them and randomly kills families and kids. shopping mall and a bus loaded with children are victim of bombs. Random drive by spray and pray on innocent people.. Its brutal and violent with no sense of plot what so ever.. Haha. Luckily, Chuck is often there to save the day. It is a comedy, not an action movie. I laughed the whole way trough. LEGENDARY Norris movie..
User ReviewVincent PThey manage to make utterly detestable villains of the Commies in the scant 75 minute runtime and the integration of stock footage is clever... Too bad the rest is given such short thrift (like, say, characterization for our cocktail lounge-going protagonists)
User ReviewPatrick MI don't really remember much about this film, having only seen it once back in the early-to-mid 1970's. Still, what I remember is actually not worth the effort. And, reading the "Movie Info" section below seems to confirm this. One thing: it actually 'inspired' my feeble attempt to write a short sci-fi/military story (the classic one-pager): "Is This All the Tanks I Get": Two generals sitting across from each other at a gigantic table. One says to the other something like: "So, you refuse to remove your troops from the area?!" The other confirms that. The first then states: "Fine, now we can consult our Governments about increasing our military budgets"...Which, IMHO, could probably make a better use of One hour and Fourteen minutes...
User ReviewArt SA curio or an artefact - but a chilling paranoid one that details how the enemy (assumed to be the Soviets) might attack the U.S. by way of Alaska. Perhaps unrealistically they drop 4 or 5 atomic bombs in the Pacific Northwest and then parachute their troops right into the radiation. In fact, the shock and horror of the attack is minimized by the screenwriters in favour of a look at several people in a bar and how they cope with the incipient war. Compare this to Peter Watkins' 1965 pseudo-doc, The War Game, where Britain suffers an A-bomb dropped on London and you can see the difference between a quickie exploitation flick and the contemplation of real horror. Almost 50% or more of Invasion U.S.A. is stock footage, which sometimes evokes the horror of war on its own (given its status as real footage) rather than serves the plot here. Given that most of the tragedy in the film is revealed through TV reporting (with the station occasionally going off air), the nearest resemblance is to Night of the Living Dead (or was it Dawn of the Dead?). But those films are far superior, if somewhat less realistic (given the potential for President Trump). For the record, the Americans retaliate by dropping even more nuclear bombs on Russia in the film. All we can hope is that no one has their finger on the button ever again.
User ReviewBobby DWhat an outrageous movie! Communists take over the US using robots or something? What?
