| User Reviewjay nClassic semi documentary film about the strange tale of what happened to the bounty mutineers and their descendants. . Many non Australians my not know that Bligh went on to become the governor of the colony of New South Wales, and had yet another rebellion at the hands of his own troops - called the Rum Rebellion. The Rum core were a corrupt law unto themselves, controlling the legal and illegal distribution of rum in the colony. Bligh was arrested after being found hiding under his bed. Whatever this fellow was really like, his management style may have left a bit to be desired. One of his descendants, Anna Bligh became the premier of Queensland. The ending of the film is more realistic. Fletcher Christian did not die when the bounty was burned as in the Marlon Brando Version but sometime between landing on Pitcairn and 18 years later when an American whaler happened upon the island to find only one male alive and some women and children, is rumoured to have been murdered. Afterwards they were resettled on Norfolk Island. There have been accusations of endemic child sexual abuse by the descendants of the mutineers. |
| User ReviewKevin M. WAn Australian film, semi-documentary, that served as the screen debut of Errol Flynn and traces the inhabitants of Pitcairn Island, descendants of the mutineers of H.M.S. Bounty. For a history lesson, it proves to be very interesting. Worthy. A quick check of current Youtube videos of the isle and one can see that little has changed since 1932. |
