| User ReviewJeff BLots of eye candy in this one. A young man is initiated into the joys of sex by an English Countess (or is it duchess?) and then has a string of fortuitous sexual experiences. But, of course, what he is looking for is true love. And, in the end, he finds it. The women are beautiful, the young man is quite handsome, and love conquers all. If you look beyond this facade, however there is a dark undercurrent. The setting is during the Spanish Civil war and the lead up to world war II. Andres is conscripted into the rebel army. His mother is dating a big shot in the fascist party that wins that war. Andres is pressured into joining the party once the war is over. A neighbor is arrested because of his association with free thinkers. The director doesn't dwell on these undercurrents, but they add poignancy to the overlying story. |
