User ReviewEmily WI'm really not sure what's wrong with most of the idiots reviewing this film so far. I mean sure, the film is bizzare and story wise is really nothing to brag about. However any film that captures this much breast cleavage, a full on butt shot and even YES! A partial beaver shot of the lovely Miss.Leelee Sobieski is easily worth the full 5 stars. I mean seriously people, learn something about movies before you decide to review them. Thank you Donato Rotunno for such quality film making and having the extrodinary eye to cast Miss Leelee in this part. Most of all, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to Miss Leelee for being so kind as to show perverted bastards like me as much as you have. You are a legend in my mind, a gem in my heart and in my not so humble opinion easily the most attractive female organism on the god forsaken planet. Bless you, bless you, bless you!!!
User ReviewAlek WThis movie is simply stunning, one of the best. Watch it
User ReviewScott TI thought this movie was okay. There were some parts that were creepy.
User ReviewRobert CThe viciously negative reviews of this film are way off the mark. All the comparisons to the James novel smack more of "literary snobbery" than of honest analysis. The director freely admits it's an "adaptation" of the original story, and that he won't be held captive by such comparisons. Take the movie on its own merits and you'll find it fascinating and thought provoking. As for the sneering references in these reviews to weaknesses in the script, the editing, the music and the acting--quite wrong, and probably designed to show off the authors' supposed prowess. The reviews fail; the movie succeeds. (And, as for the frequent semi-nudity, it really does serve the story!)
User ReviewEmma FI'm not even sure if this film makes any sense plot wise, at least I didn't get it, and I watched it like 3 times. However who cares, Leelee Sobieski is a total babe, a top notch knockout and shows tons of her voluptuous cleavage and yes, even a full out ass shot with her lifting her leg and flashing her c**t. That alone is worth 4 stars for sure even though it's just a partial from behind look but ladies and gents, let me say, WE HAVE BUSH!!! And prime grade A bush when your talking Leelee peoples. I must have watched that flash of the bush scene when she hops out of the bath tube at least 50 times by now, and it still never gets old, and pretty much the same goes for the scene where Leelee is looking out the window with her collosal knockers just begging to be let out. The movie is like huh? Nonetheless, it's a classic. Thanks Miss Sobieski for continuing to give us high quality boner material and let us ogle and drool over your sweet curves. If I had to take a guess, the actual location of heaven is in any of your sweet holes.
User ReviewGabriele B...that was one of the best movies in this genre I've ever seen...I found no mistakes in it and it wasn't forseeable like most of the other movies with plots like this...I don't want to talk much about the plot itself, cause it would take all the suspense away... I liked the actors a lot, Leelee Sobieski was wonderful in her role as governess and also Tara Fitzgerald, her transformation throughout the movie was great...also the two children where nice and there where some good shockeffects in the movie, but without any splatter or gore in it... The plot was well developed and took you always to a point where you think you know everything and the story revealed another piece and than you realize you where on the wrong path...and I really loved the ending, for some people it seems a bit confusing, but I think there couldn't be a better end than that... Definitively a movie that is highly recommendable...
User ReviewSean FI didn't understand that this was The Turn of the Screw until I saw it in the credits later. I loved that story. There is something very sad and quite creepy about this movie. It is very European and probably wouldn't satisfy most horror audiences, but if it reminds you of a good nightmare I think it's worth a watch.
User ReviewTim MIm still slightly confused, but this movie was wonderful.
User ReviewEmily PEarlier this week, we watched In a Dark Place, starring Leelee Sobieski. It was strange, but I enjoyed it. There are parts that make me say some people should not watch it, because it would be too hard. I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars. The movie is about a girl who has been abused and taken advantage of for most of her life. She is a teacher, but gets fired. The man who fires her recommends her as a nanny for two children. The children's parents have died and the man looking for a nanny is the children's uncle. The girl moves out to the manor where the children and the lady taking care of the estate live. She starts seeing and experiencing strange things and is worried about the children's safety.
