Saving clueless kid brat Marie from drowning, he bumps into her single mother Sophie Kreilinger, a one night stand who fascinates and confuses him, being an 'exotic dancer' and sanctimonious liar, who also renders Leni viciously jealous. Father releases himself from hospital to prevent Karl taking the reins, but agrees there can be only one captain and it's time to pass the helm, yet mother insists that requires a farmer's wife.
