On the night of Hugh's wedding to Betty Lou, Mr. Wright, boss of the detective agency Hugh works for, assigns him to recover some love letters that Fifi LaRue has been using to blackmail a wealthy oil-man client of the agency. Fifi lives in the same building as Hugh, so Hugh slips Betty Lou some sleeping pills and prepares to go after the letters.
