Keizo Ishizu (Shuji Sano), owner of a car shop in Tokyo, meets Yasuko Ikeda (Setsuko Hara), the daughter of a former aristocratic family, on a matchmaking date arranged by Mr. Sato (Takeshi Sakamoto), a regular customer.
