USA Today - 3/10 by Mike Clark[A] superior example of ambush journalism.
User Review - 8/10 by Lady DI've read a few reviews on this film and I have to say I disagree that this is not up there with some of Broomfield's best. Every person within this documentary is fascinating and throughout you never quite know who is telling the truth and who is just out to outdo the other person. Some great angles covered here from a viewing prospective, Hollywood madam, secret clientelle list that could be revealed, sex,, drugs, power, informants, conspiracy. The documentary makes for a great subject matter along with some very direct questioning back and forth from Nick Broomfield. In truth this documentary doesn't reveal a whole lot from Heidi's prospective and many questions still remain a mystery to that effect, however, two particular characters of interest do feel the spotlight with tales that you are never quite sure is the truth. An unexpected view was that of Heidi facing prison and her mindset leading up to that, regardless of the charges, this showed a fear and possibly the vulnerable, human side of her, in fact out of the three characters, Heidi, doesn't seem to come out of this as the worst.
User Review - 8/10 by max rwatching this film made me feel so dirty, afterword i wanted to give my soul a shower and i mean that in the best possible way. ivan nagy and madame alex are such abominations that heidi comes out of this looking like shirley temple. keep on keeping on mr. broomfield. you are a leading light amongst documentarians.
User Review - 8/10 by Ollie WLike all Nick Broomfield docs, this is a sprawling, naive mess of a film. It's also frequently amusing, relentlessly gung-ho and occasionally enlightening.
User Review - 6/10 by Billy PWhat a bunch of crooks, the only one that come out looking half decent is Heidi herself.
User Review - 6/10 by CJ C"I bet a lot of people who came down on prostitution say, "I'd like to make $1,500 a night."--Heidi Fleiss' mom. Ah, the good old 90's... after watching half of VH1s SOBER HOUSE Season 2 (starring Heidi Fleiss, Tom Sizemore et al), I came across this movie & just couldnt resist. Such a fun romp thru the slippery slimy underbelly of sleazy Hollywood (that even the film looks dirty lol.) These ppl just smile at the camera with so much hatred in their eyes that even Heidi comes out looking like an innocent victim. You continually think to yourself what a load of BS these ppl just told the interviewer. So if you like smarmy flicks, this ones for you.
User Review - 6/10 by Evyan RInteresting documentary with a cast of liars. Can't tell who's telling the truth and who's lying...sad thing is that I don't think they can either.
User Review - 6/10 by Robert IIn every generation, a madam goes down in flames. In my generation it was the Manhattan Madam, Kristin Davis. Before that it was this woman, Heidi Fleiss. This is a pretty good doc going into the shady underbelly of the LA prostitution system in the 80s and early 90s. Now things are more careful thanks because of this scandal. But there's so many great interviews in this with genuinely scary people, all of them liars, backstabbers, and charmers. Basically, TRUST NO ONE! Be glad at least SOMEONE went to jail. Of course, Heidi is a rich celebrity again. So, I guess the system works.
User Review - 6/10 by Crusader .Absolutely fascinating documentary with no holds barred. Filmmaker even gets on camera how he is paying cash for information from many sources, including former LAPD Chief Daryl F. Gates, who is one of the biggest A-holes to have ever been in that department!
User Review - 4/10 by Craig BUninvolving. Shame considering the subject matter.
