User Review - 10/10 by Kat Gthe grafic quality was awesome and the story was pretty good. lots of twists and turn :)
User Review - 8/10 by Ryan Manimation action was a bit too repetitive.
User Review - 6/10 by Luisa CCool this was my first play station 3 game ever!
User Review - 6/10 by Brandon SIt wasn't bad. The story was actually pretty good and touching at the end. It had some confusing moments but all in all it was a solid video game movie. The graphics were less than top notch but had some decent action. I was hoping to see some of that crazy cool action that had me impressed from the game but instead it was just decent with some moments of cool. The voice acting could have been better but again it wasn't bad and I am looking forward to seeing more video game movies to be done. Hopefully SoulCalibur will see the light of day!
User Review - 6/10 by Hunter SWhile the animation is not on par with most animated films, it is on par with the animation of the video game on which it is based. So, I did not find it that distracting. However, the story does not flow very well. If you can get past the first 20 minutes, it does get a bit better, but never feels as epic as it should.
User Review - 6/10 by Kevin RHe rose from hell to scorch the world with hatred. King Bohan has returned from what some believe is the depths of hell with an army in hopes of conquering the world. Only one legendary sword is believed to be able to kill the king, the Heavenly Sword. The problem with the sword is if used by a mortal, it will slowly drain them of life till their death. The legendary man who is supposed to wield the sword dies. A woman, who has suffered some recent successes, is told to wield the sword and lead her people into battle against the invading king. "You think murdering innocent people is funny? Let's see you laugh when your guts hit the floor." Gun Ho Jang delivers Heavenly Sword in his directorial debut. The story was fun and entertaining in a Beowulf kind of way. The animation style wasn't perfect but entertaining and the voices fit the characters well. "Never follow the spider onto its web." I came across this on Netflix and had to give it a shot. I enjoy these films for the most part and found this worth a viewing. This wasn't an epic picture or addition to the genre, but this wasn't a waste of time either. This is worth viewing once. "Ki likes to make blood." Grade: C+
User Review - 4/10 by Jason CGreat visuals, but only a so-so story about a family beset with the dangerous desires of a power-mad warlord. They've got an all powerful sword to fight with ... but no male heirs. Dripping with Japanese cultural go-tos, the gist remains in the roots of the video game that spawned the proceedings, but goes no further.
User Review - 4/10 by Jerome KI'm a little confused as to why this film adaptation was made. Besides the video game having long since been out of the public eye (it came out in 2007), the story is almost exactly the same besides the addition of throwaway character Loki. Considering it's 2014, I expected the cgi to be much better that what was presented. In fact, you can find on youtube all the cinematics of the video game stitched together to make a full movie, and you can see the story and voice acting is superior there and even the cgi is still impressive, too. If you want to watch the story of the Heavenly Sword, play the video game (which has a short runtime) instead of watching this movie.

User Review - 2/10 by PierLuigi FI thought it was a great idea to make an animated video game movie based on the video game with the same graphics, and have the same actress from the video game to play as Nariko again. But I was very disappointed in this. To be fair, I didn't played the game, I only played the demo, so I know a little experience from it. The graphics in the movie are not smooth like the game, some of them are pretty good, But most of them look cheap to me. I swear, like 95% of the writing is just exposition, some of them were laughable too, and it didn't get a chance to introduce the characters barely and made me think that they're just stock characters. The acting is inconsistent, the only actor that was trying to make this a good movie is Nolan North. He apparently want this movie to work because he played three characters in the movie, so at least he's trying. Anna Torv who plays Nariko is surprisingly inconsistent, there are times where it's fine, then there are scenes where I think she didn't use the right emotion for the scenes. There was too much plot to the point that it really needs to take a breather. It's a predictable video game movie that fans of Heavenly Sword should not see, even if it has the same graphics, but I'll admit that at least there was a bit of effort into it, but all the effort was wasted.
