Movie Reviews

San Francisco Chronicle - 10/10 by Mick LaSalleThe Harrison Ford-Sean Connery father-and-son team gives Last Crusade unexpected emotional depth, reminding us that real film magic is not in special effects.
The New York Times - 9/10 by Caryn JamesThough it cannot regain the brash originality of ''Raiders of the Lost Ark,'' in its own way 'The Last Crusade' is nearly as good, matching its audience's wildest hopes.
USA Today - 9/10 by Mike ClarkIt is just as well that Last Crusade will indeed be Indy's last film. It would be too sad to see the series grow old and thin, like the James Bond movies.
Washington Post - 8/10 by Desson ThomsonStart lining up now, bring a bullwhip -- and maybe some d-Con. Indiana will do the rest.
Chicago Tribune - 8/10 by Dave KehrDespite strong acting (the slapstick energy between Ford and Connery is wasted), obligatory chases and stunts and splendid art direction, the virtuoso technique evident in every frame remains formulaic--unaccompanied by revelation, epiphany or surprise.
Washington Post - 4/10 by Hal HinsonThe first of Spielberg's films to make us feel heavy in our seats, the first to leave us sitting, passive and uninvolved, on the outside. Watching it, you feel that nearly anyone could have directed it.
User Review - 10/10 by ZenRobotIt's flabbergasting that this movie has a 66/100 metascore from "critics". not sure what they were smoking back in 89 but this movie is unsurpassable in the Action/Adventure genre.
User Review - 10/10 by BrandonL.'Radier's of the Lost Ark' was good. 'Temple of Doom' was awful. The third in the Indy series, 'The Last Crusade,' is, by far, the best in the trilogy. Sean Connery is great as Indy's father and Harrison is, of course, awesome as Indy Jones. An excellent movie.
User Review - 10/10 by WriteFilmLive21"The Last Crusade" is the final film in the original Indiana Jones trilogy - and fittingly, the most entertaining of them all. This time, Indy's dad joins the adventure, played by Sean Connery, and the chemistry between these two gives the movie a fantastic human center quite unique to the series. They find themselves on a quest to prevent the Nazis from acquiring the Holy Grail - and yeah, although this is essentially a rehash of the original, it's just so damn much fun that you simply don't care or even really notice. I'd seen films 1 and 3 several times before I suddenly realized how similar they were, and that's the impressive strength of "Last Crusade" - you get so caught up in everything with Indy and his dad, so swept up in spectacular chase sequences, that they could be after the Ark a second time and you still wouldn't care. "Raiders" may have established this traditional Indy formula, departed from only in the very different "Temple of Doom", but it is perfected and tied with a bow here in "Last Crusade". The music is at its best, the action is at its best, the characters are at their best, and of course Spielberg is at his best. It's a straight-up A-grade thrillride.
User Review - 10/10 by NecromusUnlike the disappointment that "The Temple Of Doom" was for me, I really enjoyed "The Last Crusade". It was filled with action, comedy, a great musical score, great acting and great directing just like the original "Raiders of the Lost Ark". And unlike The Temple of Doom it has no annoying girl screaming through the whole thing lol.. This is my second favourite Indiana Jones movie, with "Raiders of the Lost Ark" being my favourite.
