Movie Reviews

sbs.com.au - 8/10 by Simon FosterViewers with increasing concerns that Bollywood's recent action/comedies are far too reliant on tiresome conventions will see this as further proof; for those simply looking for escapism of the highest order, this romp should do just fine.
RogerEbert.com - 8/10 by Danny BowesThe action's top-notch, the songs are good, and with the above-mentioned assets, "Gunday" is an unqualified success on its own terms: a solidly entertaining pop movie.
Georgia Straight - 8/10 by Itrath SyedThis is a messy film with no substantial plot and mismatched pieces that simply don't fit.
Variety - 7/10 by David ChuteThe film has been skillfully realized as a commercial entertainment on a huge scale, and it is often surprisingly beautiful.
Filmfare - 7/10 by Rachit GuptaThe climax is gripping. It's a pity that the rest of the movie didn't have the same resolve.
The National (UAE) - 6/10 by Christine IyerGunday is well made, slickly edited and stays true in its rendering of Kolkata during that turbulent era. But Bachchan fans will have more fun identifying all the references and tropes the movie is stuffed with.
Gulf News (UAE) - 6/10 by Manjusha RadhakrishnanIf you dig those loud '70s capers, Gunday is right up your street.
The New York Times - 6/10 by Rachel SaltzGunday, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, may be preposterous, but it’s rarely dull. And when Mr. Khan and Ms. Chopra are on screen it’s something more. It’s downright enjoyable.
Hindustan Times - 6/10 by Anupama ChopraThis film would be dead on arrival without the energy of the male leads - even when they are hamming, and they ham often, they are doing it with glorious style. Of the three stars for Gunday, one is for Ranveer and Arjun.
User Review - 10/10 by Malissa MGunday Review; let's start off by saying #RanveerSingh & #ArjunKapoor hands down, has the best bromance that Bollywood has seen in a while. both are extremely buff and hot as Bikram & Bala. now if u want action, Gunday delivers, non stop from start to finish. makes you want to have a true friend like Bala/Bikram whom no matter what will always stand by your side and forgive you. the music draws you in making you want more. very upbeat and catchy. #priyankachopra 1 word sexy !! her dance scene in Asalaam-e-Ishqum has to be the sexiest cabaret dancer On screen for Bollywood. PC role leaves you with the "what f**** just happened?..." effect. All roles were nailed by each actor. Romance, Action, Drama, Suspense & Comedy Gunday has it all!
